Peter Monk

QUALIFICATIONS: Pg. Dip Medical Ultrasound; MSc. Neuro-musculoskeletal Physiotherapy; BSc. (Hons). Physiotherapy; Injection Therapist and Independent Prescriber.

Peter obtained his BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy in 1995 from the University of Bath and has worked as an MSK Physiotherapist ever since, working within private clinic’s, private hospitals and the NHS. Peter finished his Master’s degree in 2012 in Neuro-musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from the University of Hertfordshire and since then has obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound from Bournemouth University and his Independent Prescribing qualification from the University of Nottingham.

Peter works in a busy NHS team in West Sussex 2.5 days per week and these clinics involve the assessment and management of complex MSK problems as well as dedicated ultrasound scanning and guided injection clinics for both the MSK and Rheumatology teams there. Since completing his injection training in 2009 Peter has incorporated ultrasound guided injections into the management programs of many patients and now performs many ultrasound guided injections every week both in the NHS and private settings. Peter takes an active role in the education of others and has mentored both Physiotherapists and GPs developing their injection skills alongside Master’s level students in advanced Physiotherapy MSK assessment and treatment.

He regularly provides clinical mentorship for MSK Ultrasound students through the AECC University College, Bournemouth and is currently the module lead on the MSc Ultrasound Guided Injections module. Peter is involved in the examination and moderation of many student exams at the University and within students workplaces including Physiotherapists, GP’s, Sports doctors, Sonographers, Podiatrists and more as they work their way through higher education.

Peter is registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP); Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MMACP) and the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC).
